RK Mechanical, Inc. is dedicated to reducing the construction industry’s impact on the environment for our future generations. We have become the first mechanical contactor in the state of Colorado to become a member of the United States Green Building Council’s (USGBC) LEED Program.
RK Mechanical has been educating our employees on sustainable design and becoming more aware of the environment through LEED accreditation. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a standard for building construction created in 1993 by the USGBC. The LEED Green Building Rating System is a voluntary market-driven building rating system. Based on a point rating system, buildings are qualified and certified as LEED Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum. Points are earned by implementing designs on operational procedures in the following areas:
- Sustainable Sites
- Water Efficiency
- Energy and Atmosphere
- Materials and Resources
- Indoor Environmental Quality and Innovation
- Design Process
The USGBC is developing LEED standards for residential community development, as well.
RK Mechanical is proud to lead the industry with close to 50 accredited professionals in the USGBC’s LEED AP program.
